Land claims
Claims are how land becomes yours on Indigo. They come from the Open Parties and Claims mod, which is in the pack, so there is nothing to install and nothing to pay. The numbers below are the server’s actual settings.
The short version
Section titled “The short version”- Land is claimed by the chunk (a 16 by 16 block column, all the way up and down).
- You can hold up to 64 chunks. Arranged as a square that is 128 by 128 blocks, which is a lot of house.
- Inside your claim, other players cannot break or place blocks, open your chests, or use your doors and buttons. You can.
- A party shares access. Party members get full access to each other’s claims. Up to 16 people per party.
- Claims stay loaded only while someone is nearby. There are no force-loaded chunks for players, so a farm keeps running when you are next to it, not when you are across the map.
How to claim
Section titled “How to claim”The claim tools are part of the map.
- Stand in the chunk you want, or open the full world map (default M).
- Open the claims screen with the claims key (default ’, the apostrophe). If it does not open, check Options → Controls for Open Parties and Claims.
- Claim the chunks you want. Claimed chunks show on the map with your colour, and the world map lets you paint claims in as well.
You can also do everything from chat:
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/oclaims |
Claim and unclaim chunks, see your counts, change your claim’s name and colour |
/oparties |
Create a party, invite people, leave |
/opac |
Everything else the mod offers |
Type a command on its own to see its options. The mod’s own documentation covers every setting; this page only describes how Indigo is set up.
What protection covers
Section titled “What protection covers”Checked on this server’s configuration:
- Blocks: outsiders cannot break or place inside your claim.
- Storage: chests, barrels and similar containers are closed to outsiders.
- Doors, buttons, levers, pressure plates: outsiders cannot use them. If you want a public door or a shop front, that is what shops and parties are for.
- Explosions and fire from outside do not eat into a claim.
Not a promise: Create contraptions, pipes and machines that reach across a claim border are a grey area in the mod itself. If you are building tech next to someone, talk to them first, and keep big machines outside town.
Pine River
Section titled “Pine River”The town is claimed by the server and is read-only for players. You can walk through every door and use the public buildings, but you cannot build inside the town’s claims. Building lots around the town are where new homes go; ask in the Discord if you want to be pointed at one.
Parties
Section titled “Parties”A party is a group that shares claim access. Create one with /oparties create, invite with
/oparties invite <name>, and members can build in each other’s claims as if they were their own.
Claims still belong to the person who made them. Leaving a party does not take land with you, and
joining one does not hand your land over.
- Claim before you build. It takes ten seconds and saves a lot of grief.
- Name your claim. It shows on the map for everyone and is how people find your shop.
- Leave a gap between your claim and the next one unless you have agreed to share a wall.
- If you are going away for a long time, your claim stays. Nothing expires.
