Your first day

Indigo is a small, whitelisted survival server on Minecraft Java 1.21.1. If you are not in yet, the main site walks you through the pack, the whitelist and the address in about ten minutes. This page picks up from the moment you press Join Server.

You spawn in Pine River, the starter town. It is a real place with streets, shops and homes, not a lobby, and the town itself is protected: you can walk through every door and look around, but you cannot break or place blocks inside the town’s own claims. That protection is what keeps the town looking like a town.

Two things worth doing in the first minute:

  • Open your map. The minimap is already on screen; the full world map opens with the map key (default M). Pine River is marked, and the map fills in as you explore.
  • Press the voice chat key (default V) once to choose your microphone. Voice is proximity based, so people near you can hear you and people across the map cannot.
  1. Pick a direction. There is no rush and no wrong choice. Some people want a lot in town, some want a farm on the edge, some want to be a long walk away. All three are normal here.
  2. Gather the basics like any survival start: wood, a crafting table, tools, a bed. Beds matter because nights are real and the world does not reset.
  3. Claim your spot once you know where you want to be. Claims are what make the land yours; see Land claims. You can claim a lot before you build a single block.
  4. Say hello. Chat is small and friendly, and the Discord is where people plan things. If someone is building next to where you want to be, ask first. That is one of the five house rules.

Indigo is modded, but the mods are chosen to fit survival rather than replace it:

  • Farming and cooking go further than vanilla: more crops, cutting boards, cooking pots, real meals.
  • Furniture and decoration let a house feel lived in.
  • Shops use a real currency, so trading with other players is a thing you can build a life around.
  • Land claims and parties protect what is yours and let you share it with friends.
  • Maps and voice chat are built in; nothing to install.
  • Tech (Create, Mekanism, a power grid) is there for people who want it. Nobody has to touch it.

Each mod has a short page under The mods; the full list with versions is on What’s in the pack.

  • Keep the town looking like a town. Big industrial builds belong outside it.
  • Ask before you build right next to someone.
  • Nothing resets. What you build in your first hour is still there next year, so pick a place you like.
  • Griefing, stealing and hacked clients are the fast way off the whitelist. The short rules are on the main site.

Kicked, crashed, stuck, or the server looks offline: the setup guide’s troubleshooting section covers the common ones. For anything else, ask in the Discord with the exact message you saw.
